The Chinese Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM) recently released the 2023 work plan for the special inspection on safety management of 35 hazardous chemicals (Hazchem) throughout their manufacture, import, operation and use, focusing on the implementation status of certain obligations, e.g., Hazchem registration, labeling, SDS, hazard identification and classification, etc. (Read more)

🇰🇷South Korea


On May 5, 2023, South Korea’s Ministry of Environment (MoE) issued a notice to seek public comments on the updates to South Korea’s Existing Chemical Substance Inventory (KECI). The authority proposed to disclose the chemical name of 210 substances, which previously applied for confidential information protection with only generic names and their data protection validity has expired. Any comments are welcome before May 24, 2023. (Read more)

🇯🇵Japan


Japan\’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) has recently made changes to the list of deleterious substances designated under the Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law (PDSCL). The amendment, which was published on May 26, 2023, includes the following changes:

  • (1) Designating 3-Aminopropan-1-ol (CAS No. 156-87-6) and its mixtures with a concentration of 1% or more as deleterious chemicals,
  • (2) Changing the concentration threshold for 2-Isobutoxyethanol (CAS No. 4439-24-1) from 10% to 15%, and
  • (3) Deleting diantimony tetraoxide (CAS No. 1332-81-6) and its mixtures from the list.
