On April 7, 2023, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) announced to roll out a new inspection mode – \”Document Review + Port Inspection or Destination Inspection\” for each batch of imported hazardous chemicals nationwide from April 13, 2023. The GACC will determine the operation locations and proportions to carry out inspections according to the properties and packaging types of the imported hazardous chemicals. (Read more)

More regulation highlights in China:

🇰🇷South Korea


On April 12, 2023, South Korea\’s Ministry of Environment (MoE) published the updated list of pre-registered substances under K-REACH. As of March 31, 2023, a total of 226,520 pre-registration applications were submitted for 17,380 chemical substances, of which 77 are CMR substances. About 9% of the pre-registered substances are manufactured or imported over 1,000t/y. (Read more)

More regulation highlights in South Korea:

🇯🇵Japan


The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) published the first batch of 67 chemical substances that are subject to risk assessment in workplace and set their exposure limits. Employers are obliged to ensure these substances\’ exposure levels are below the corresponding limits stipulated by the ministry, otherwise they will not be allowed to be used. The ministry started to enforce this rule from April 1, 2023. (Read more)
