Milan, Italy March 26, 2019. Following the increasing levels of trade between western and eastern markets, on March 20^th the Italian Federation of the Chemical Industry Federchimica invited REACH24H to join an expert workshop dedicated to “Non-EU Legislation on Chemicals: Focus on Korea-REACH and Turkey-REACH” as speaker on K-REACH. Despite this not being the first time REACH24H collaborates with the Federation’s chemical events, this one was particularly relevant not only due to South Korea and Turkey’s increased trade with EU, but also due to  both countries’ regulations great similarities with REACH and CLP.

Federchimica, at present composed of about 1400 companies as members, gathered nearly 100 professionals and business executives from top chemical companies in Italy who joined to get an insight into the most current and relevant details on South Korea and Turkey’s chemicals regulations and registration processes. Among others, these included representatives from 3M, ENI Group and Italy Mapei and DKSH, etc.

Dr Ralf Knauf is the Head of Product Safety and International Regulatory Affairs at Federchimica. Mr. Knauf assisted with the coordination of the panel of experts, joined by REACH24H Europe expert Ms.Bi Bo and Intertek representatives who dealt with K-REACH and K-GHS, and KKDIK and global GHS, respectively. Ms. Bi Bo focused on 510 PEC substances confirmation requirements, preparations for K-REACH pre-registration of existing substances, due (≥1t/y) on 30 Jun 2019.

Existing chemical substances manufactured or imported at or above 1 ton per year need to be pre-registered under K-REACH before 30 June 2019; thus this workshop was a highly relevant event to bring awareness to chemical companies with business in the East Asian country to manage their registration processes before the deadline.

REACH24H and Ms.Bi Bo thank Federchimica and all participants for their deep interest in the event, which was ended with a final round of Q&A where questions on the above topics, including MSDS requirements and standards, were widely discussed.
