News Sharing Time: REACH24H First to Support Successful Notification of New Cosmetic Ingredient in China
Since the release of the new Cosmetics Supervision and Administration Regulation (CSAR) last year, REACH24H’s well established reputation in the registration and notification of China New Cosmetic Ingredients, has meant the company has been sought out for the registration and notification service of new cosmetic ingredient.
Among the projects supported by the REACH24H technical team, we are proud to announce that N-acetylneuraminic acid will be heading the list, with its first public announcement made at the end of June this year. The successful notified company is Wuhan Zhongke Optics Valley Green Biotechnology Co., Ltd.
What is N-acetylneuraminic Acid?
N-acetylneuraminic acid (NANA) is the major form of sialic acid in mammals (Acetylneuraminic Acid), traditionally contained in Edible bird\’s nest (EBN), an expensive functional Asian health supplement, and now following the notification by the national Chinese firm, a new cosmetic ingredient.
REACH24H Steps In
REACH24H and its technical team provided professional support to Wuhan Zhongke Optics Valley Green Biotechnology Co., Ltd. for the safety assessment of new cosmetic ingredient.
Although the Technical Guidelines for Cosmetic Safety Assessment (hereinafter referred to as the \”Guidelines\”) is considered the most difficult regulatory text in the industry, and since the ingredient is derived from a complex biological fermentation process, the technical team engaged in over one month of research with the company\’s experts to determine the relevant safety assessment pathway. Following the formal report with the results from the assessment was included in the formal notification dossier, which application was now successfully completed, making bird\’s nest acid the first new cosmetic ingredient successfully notified in China after the implementation of CSAR.
Suggestions to Companies Applying for New Cosmetic Ingredient
Although the new Guideline have speeded up the market approval of low-risk ingredient in terms of processing, emphasizing that the application should be completed if the material information is submitted, the requirements of technical material are not reduced. In addition, companies are now required to take a more proactive approach with respect to the research and evaluation of ingredients, as well as the preparation of dossiers.
At the same time, the existence of the three-year monitoring period also reminds companies that they need to maintain a dynamic focus on the safety of ingredients.
The reason why Wuhan Zhongke Optics Valley Green Biotechnology Co., Ltd. was able to be the first enterprise in China to pass the bar is also inseparable from the company\’s adequate product technology and safety research from an early stage.
A Few Words from REACH24H to Enterprises
REACH24H recommends that enterprises constantly check and remain up to date on the latest regulatory changes regarding the cosmetics registration and notification requirements. For enterprises with cosmetic ingredients that evidence high technical requirements or where the company shows no previous experience in the application of new ingredients, REACH24H suggests they seek help and support from professional organizations if necessary, to ensure their new cosmetic ingredients make it to the Chinese market.
