European Union
On October 14, 2024, the European Council adopted the revision of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP Regulation), marking the final step in the decision-making process. This targeted revision of CLP Regulation constitutes a crucial part of the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, a key building block of the European Green Deal to ensure a toxic-free environment. On October 8, 2024, The USA’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed a rule to add 16 individually listed per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and 15 PFAS categories representing over 100 individual PFAS to the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) list of toxic chemicals subject to reporting under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) and the Pollution Prevention Act (PPA). EPA is inviting public comment on the proposed rule until December 9, 2024. (Read more)
