Australia Revokes the CBI Approvals for 2 Chemicals in the AIIC: 1226781-96-9 and 219607-67-7

On September 27, 2022, the Australian Government published a notice to revoke the CBI approvals for the proper names of 2 industrial chemicals in the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC). These 2 industrial chemicals are:

1226781-96-9 2-Propenoic acid, 2-methyl-, butyl ester, polymers with N-[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]-2-methyl-2-propenamide, 2-hydroxymethylethyl-terminated hydrogenated polybutadiene methacrylate, lauryl methacrylate, Me methacrylate, myristyl methacrylate and styrene
219607-67-7 2-Propenoic acid, butyl ester, polymer with (chloromethyl)oxirane, ethenylbenzene and 4,4′-(1-methylethylidene)bis[phenol]

Chemicals that are listed in the AIIC can be introduced by any registered introducers (importers or manufacturers). According to the IC Act 2019, introducers shall apply for registration before introducing an industrial chemical to Australia during a registration year (goes from September 1 to August 31). Penalties apply if a person introduces an industrial chemical without registration. For chemicals not listed in AIIC, introducers shall apply to the Executive Director for an assessment certificate for the introduction of such industrial chemicals.
