Kicking off the seminar, Kyunghyun Kim, a regulatory consultant from REACH24H Korea, presented a comprehensive overview of the “US Environmental Claims and Recycling Labeling Regulations.” Attendees gained valuable insights into the history of the Green Guides, a set of guidelines for environmental marketing claims, and were updated on the latest developments following the US Fair Trade Commission’s public workshop on recyclable claims.

Heejae (Jay) Park, another regulatory expert from REACH24H Korea, delved into Canada’s cosmetics export procedures and regulations. With an emphasis on natural ingredients, high quality, safety, and innovation, Park provided attendees with a detailed understanding of the Canadian market landscape. Emerging Trends in Chinese Cosmetics Regulatory Landscape

Wooyoung Choi, a regulatory specialist in China’s cosmetics regulatory landscape, delivered an enlightening session on the latest updates, trends, and issues in Chinese cosmetic product and ingredient regulations. Choi’s presentation focused on efficacy, labelling, and ingredient information submissions, equipping attendees with practical knowledge to ensure compliance and successful market entry in China. He also addressed the complexities surrounding China’s Existing Cosmetic Ingredient (ECI) code submission and the emerging New Cosmetic Ingredient (NCI) notification/registration process.

General Manager of REACH24H Korea, Seongmin (Mike) Sohn focused on the current and upcoming changes in China’s cosmetics safety evaluation regulations. He discussed the distinctions between the simplified and full versions of the Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR) and provided examples to illustrate when each version should be used. Additionally, he highlighted the necessary information that stakeholders should gather for the full version of CPSR, including ingredient safety data and stability test results, among other relevant factors.

Mike emphasized the importance of addressing certain issues with Chinese and Korean authorities in the second half of 2023. He believes that clarifications and compatibility for the criteria will become clearer during this period. Therefore, it is crucial for the industry to prepare for the worst-case scenario through careful monitoring of the outcomes resulting from the interaction between both authorities.
