In the past two months, China released consultation drafts of three important regulations relating to food labeling and registration of overseas manufacturers. Many changes could have great influence on food compliance if passed unchanged.
On November 26, 2019, China General Administration of Customs (GAC) released a consultation draft on the Administrative Provisions on Registration of Overseas Manufacturers of Imported Foods. Besides aquatic products, dairy products, meat and bird nest, other imported foods might also be subject to facility registration.
On Nov. 21, 2019, China SAMR opened the draft version of Food Labeling Supervision Administrative Measures to public feedback. This document is newly drafted to regulate the labeling of all foods, including prepackaged food, bulk food, edible agricultural products, irradiated food, GM food, special food, and imported food.
On Dec. 31, 2019, China NHC consulted on revision to GB 7718 General Standard for the Labeling of Prepackaged Foods. Many changes are made to the 2012 version of this standard.
This webinar aimed at helping ChemLinked readers understand what’s going on with these rules and what might be influenced by those changes.
