Background
To ensure the safety and quality of food products entering the country, the Government of Indonesia, through the food and drug supervisory agency (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan or “BPOM”) and various ministries, requires business actors to obtain certain licenses and comply with labeling requirements.
With changes to the licensing process through the Online Single Submission system and BPOM’s online system, importers of food products need to understand the licensing process procedures and requirements and the documents required for business actors to comply with the laws and regulations concerning food imports in Indonesia.

Arvin Raharja

Arvin Raharja earned his Bachelor of Laws in 2016, graduating with summa cum laude honors from Atma Jaya University, Jakarta, where he focused on business law.
Since joining SSEK, Arvin has been involved in numerous projects, with a focus on foreign investment, general corporate law, trade law, the pharmaceutical sector, e-commerce, mergers and acquisitions, andcompany restructurings.
Arvin’s experience in the pharmaceutical and trade sectors includes:
• Advising Louis Dreyfus Company on the importation into Indonesia of roasted coffee beans and concentrated juice products;
• Representing Oil-Dri Corporation of America in obtaining a business license from the Ministry of Agriculture for animal drugs;
• Advising an American multinational pharmaceutical company on the sale of Covid-19 vaccines in Indonesia;
• Assisting Mead Johnson with the expansion of its business activities in Indonesia to include the importation of vitamin and health supplements.
Arvin was recently seconded to GlaxoSmithKline, a leading global pharmaceutical company. During his secondment, Arvin assisted in reviewing legal documents and supported the business team in ensuring compliance with the Indonesian laws and regulations.
Arvin passed the bar exam in 2017 and is a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi). He speaks English and Indonesian.
