These revisions will likely be accompanied by the Regulations on Food Labeling Management. The new standards aim to update and refine food labeling requirements for both domestic and imported food products.

  1. EU: New Novel Food Application Guidelines to Take Effect in 2025

    The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has updated its guidelines for novel food applications. These revised documents clarify definitions and data requirements to improve the quality of submitted dossiers and streamline safety risk assessments. The new guidelines will officially come into effect on February 1, 2025.

  2. USA: FDA’s Revised “Healthy” Claim Rule to Take Effect in 2025

    On December 19, 2024, the FDA issued a final rule updating the definition of the “healthy” nutrient content claim, aligning it with current nutritional science and the Federal Dietary Guidelines. Manufacturers choosing to use this claim have three years to comply but may adopt the new criteria sooner.
