K-BPR: South Korea Expands QR Codes Pilot to 39 Household Chemical Products Subject to Safety Confirmation

South Korea piloted QR codes for disinfectants from Sep 2021 and expanded it to include all listed household products (39 sub-categories) from June 2022.

South Korea’s Ministry of Environment (MoE) invited the industry to pilot QR codes for disinfectants last year (South Korea to Use QR Code on Household Chemical Products Subject to Safety Confirmation). According to the newly disclosed data, in total 143 enterprises involving 227 disinfectant products participated the pilot scheme from October 2021 to June 2022. Building on its success, MoE from June 2022 expanded the use of QR codes to all household chemical products (39 sub-categories) that are subject to safety confirmation under K-BPR.
