FDA will review phthalates safety by 10 NGO application

According to Food quality news’s report, FDA will review phthalates safety after receive 10 NGO‘s application recently. FDA will publish a notice to announcing the petition is under review and make a decision during the following 180 days.
Phthalates has been used as plasticizers, binders, coating agents and in food contact paper and paperboard, plastics and other articles.
There is limited knowledge about the safety about phthalates, but some evidence showed that this kind of substance have serious affect to pregnant woman, infant, and children.
In addition, this petition also including ask FDA to remove 5 phthalates from the prior-sanctioned substance (21 CFR part 181.27) and ban another 8 phthalates by update 21 CFR prat 189. But FDA suggest this request was outside the scope, and it should by other ways.
For this kind of substance are dangerous to human for a long time, but the food industry has no acted on it. We hope this time it will be promote by government.
