REACH is the new European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use. It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances, which entered into force on 1 June 2007. REACH is a big regulatory system with many requirements and applies to all chemical substances, not only those used in industrial processes but also in our daily life, for example in cleaning products, paints as well as in articles, such as clothes, furniture and electrical appliances. For textile, apparel and footwear enterprises, the key point is to comply with the requirements of REACH Annex XVII and SVHC.
